Spatial Insights, Inc. has developed a Windows based application, used for the visualization and mapping of spatial trends from geo-referenced point-based data. The TrendMapTM system is used to create accurate trade area maps from customer location or Point-of-Sale (POS) data, or to map the concentration of competitors and evaluate trends in other types of point based data.
Developed in response to Spatial Insights client driven project requirements, TrendMapTM uses an innovative spatial filtering technique to produce uniquely accurate trade area maps from geo-referenced customer POS data. TrendMapTM can be used to evaluate trade areas of existing stores, derive demographic profiles, evaluate the effects of cannibalization, and for the development of site selection and sales prediction models.
TrendMapTM provides a wide range of flexibility for defining the parameters used to create the trend surface maps, including the characteristics of the spatial filter, the number of intervals, and the interval ranges generated. The system operates as stand-alone MapInfoTM, ArcViewTM or AtlasTM compatible program, and reads .xls, .mdb, .wk3 and .tab files. Output options include both .tab and .mid/.mif formats, as well as .shp and .bna files. TrendMapTM is fully documented, and includes on-line help. The system is available as a .DLL.
