Access Transport Areas
Local Access Transport Areas (LATAs) are unique geographies created by the FCC following the divestiture of AT&T’s local exchange operations in 1984. By law, telephone calls between LATAs must be handled by long distance carriers.
LATA boundaries are best suited for the following applications and uses:
- Identify Calling Patterns
- Identify and Determine Calling Plans
- LATA name
- LATA code
The LATA Boundaries database is tiled by state and nation.
